Two T's walk into a bar...
Over 20 years ago, Thomas Kragelund and Tejs Rasmussen were competitors creating websites for bars in Denmark.
Thomas focused on databases and event calendars, while Tejs specialized in visual storytelling, bringing the bar's in-person aesthetic to life online.
It didn’t take long for them to realize they could do more together.
"Thomas headhunted me," Tejs says. Thomas agrees.
Their first collaboration? An event calendar that updated automatically—a revolutionary concept in the late ’90s. And it opened doors to new types of customers. Especially within eCommerce.
Combining Thomas’s technical expertise with Tejs’s design flair, the duo helped Danish companies embrace online shopping with functional and visually stunning sites.
But there was a catch:
"We’d pitch beautifully designed storefronts, only for clients to ruin them with terrible product images," Thomas explains.
Spotting this issue set the foundation for their next chapter—solving the problem of poor eCommerce content.
Amazon Called
To address this growing need, Thomas launched Remove The Background, later renamed Pixelz.
The side project quickly gained traction, prompting Thomas to sell his consultancy and focus on Pixelz full-time.
Tejs, still at the consultancy, but also working with Thomas on Pixelz, was struggling to find time for both jobs and was on the verge of stepping back from Pixelz.
He had already written the resignation email but hadn’t sent it yet when the phone rang. It was Thomas.
"Amazon called," he started.
Amazon wanted Pixelz to help sellers meet their strict image requirements.
The interest from the eCommerce giant validated Pixelz’s potential.
Within months, Tejs joined Pixelz full-time, and the duo grew the company into a global leader in high-quality product image editing.
Growing Pains and a New Vision
Pixelz thrived, particularly among high-end fashion brands. At its peak, the company had nearly 900 employees across multiple offices, running 24/7 operations to meet demand. But the manual workflows weren’t scalable.
"We realized we needed technology to ensure consistency at scale," Thomas says.
Their focus shifted toward streamlining operations—a mindset that led to another critical insight: Studios were drowning in inefficiencies. While Pixelz returned images in hours, many studios—caught in a web of spreadsheets and PDFs and duct-taped-together tech—took weeks to deliver assets, often missing deadlines.
"We saw studios wasting resources," Thomas says. "We knew we could simplify their processes."
Building Creative Force
With firsthand experience of operational bottlenecks, Thomas and Tejs envisioned a platform that could streamline studio workflows, reduce complexity, and improve efficiency.
"You need a system that doesn’t just manage complexity—it reduces it," Thomas explains.
Combining their expertise in workflow automation and user-focused design, the team launched Creative Force, an end-to-end studio management solution.
Even before writing a single line of code, they signed their first client—a testament to the platform’s promise.
Creative Force quickly became a go-to tool for some of the biggest names in eCommerce, thanks to its adaptability and user-driven features.
Tiny Turns, Big Possibilities
The success of Pixelz and Creative Force stems from the dedication of a talented team and a series of serendipitous moments:
Two competitors realized they were better as partners.
A paused email led to an opportunity with Amazon.
The struggles they observed inspired solutions that revolutionized the industry.
"When faced with big decisions, you don’t always know if you’re making the best choice," Tejs reflects. "But if you stay open to opportunities, you often find yourself in places you couldn’t have imagined."
Today, Creative Force is an international company with 130+ employees across 9 countries, offering a cutting-edge solution that’s shaping the future of content creation.
